Kelly Samantha portrait

Meet Kelly: visual designer, illustrator and well-rounded human from a small town north of Toronto, Canada.

Welcome! Kelly (b. 1991) is a versatile visual designer and illustrator from Canada. She has a rational and curious approach to design systems and visual communication, creating socially and culturally responsive design to educate, inform, and inspire.

She created Root to Sky Kitchen, an online WordPress food blog and platform dedicated to research and innovation of vital practices, brands and services in the context of current and emerging human and environmental needs, connecting people globally with traditional skills, small farms and big ideas while supporting healthy communities.

In 2013, she obtained her BAA degree in illustration and has since gained experience across a variety of sectors as a graphic designer and illustrator. She’s always looking to improve her skills with new and meaningful projects. Most recently, she served remotely as an RGD affiliate designer with Canada’s Arctic education non-profit Pinnguaq (now known as Ampere).

Kelly was raised in a small town with rolling hills near farmland. Her upbringing planted the seeds of a deep appreciation of the wild and an active, natural lifestyle in tune with the elements. She’s here to push boundaries and explore the unknown, and enjoys working with sustainable and ethical brands that align with her values. Local and international clients and affiliates include Wild Bloom Botanicals, Wild Meadows Farm, Elementa Rituals, and SuperFeast. She has also served with a number of organizations including Sustain Ontario, volunteering at West End Food Co-op, helping facilitate local fundraising events such as the Humber Ride 4 Real Food, and supporting regenerative, organic and biodynamic farms and farmer’s markets like the Village Market at Waldorf.

As a perpetual student of life, free spirit and advocate for intentional living and radical self-responsibility, she feels most at home while moving in nature, by the sea, and in the mountains, spreading peace.

Let’s get in touch!

Currently open to local and international collaborators who share a similar vision and values. No project is too big or too small! Let’s share ideas that become tangible, creating quality experiences and making an impact for good.
