Meet Kelly: Canadian-born visual design professional, curious creative, and free range human.

Welcome! Kelly (b. 1991) practices visual design, writing, self-publishing and photography, contributing to helping you thrive in the evolution of the world.

She runs Root to Sky Kitchen, an online WordPress food blog and platform dedicated to research and innovation of vital practices, brands and services in the context of current and emerging human and environmental needs, connecting people with traditional skills, small farms, and big ideas.

In 2013, she obtained her undergrad BAA degree in illustration, serving in various roles in the creative industry, and eventually seeking out ways to weave visual communication with social responsibility and sustainability. Currently, she’s serving remotely as an RGD affiliate visual designer with Canada’s first Arctic startup non-profit, Pinnguaq (a dream role), while travelling the world.

Local and international clients and affiliates include Wild Bloom Botanicals (Alberta), Wild Meadows Farm (Ontario), and SuperFeast (Australia). She has also served with a number of organizations including Sustain Ontario, volunteering at West End Food Co-op, helping facilitate local fundraising events such as the Humber Ride 4 Real Food, and supporting regenerative, organic and biodynamic farms and farmer’s markets like the Village Market at Waldorf.

As a perpetual student of earth and an advocate for intentional living, adventure and creativity, she feels most at home while moving in nature, by the sea, and in the mountains.

A little bit about my path

  • I’m a unilingual Anglophone, but I can work with French on a rudimentary and professional level (I took French classes up until grade 9, and my reading/listening is way better than my writing/speaking!).

  • I was born in 1991, raised and often living in a small town in Ontario, Canada, Turtle Island as the third generation of settlers here on this unceded land. Simple and natural living is my jam. Reconciliation is a lifelong practice for me as I enjoy learning, self-reflection and spreading inspiration while respecting the land and all humans as a citizen of the planet. I share my journey in hopes of inspiring yours.

  • I’m a part-time nomad, living life on my own terms. I enjoy slow and intentional travel and finding organic whole foods at farmer’s markets and small farms all over the world. I eat organic nearly 100% of the time, and this is why I get to live my life this way.

  • Inner peace and radical self-responsibility are some of my biggest priorities today. It is from this place that I can be of most service with concrete action.

  • I’m intensively trained in the world of visual arts and visual communication. As an artist of life, I value expansiveness, liberation, adventure, growth, collaboration, harmony and curiosity. Nature knows best beyond ideology.

  • It is an absolute privilege to enjoy working on my laptop along with physically moving outdoors, in the sunshine, near the ocean, living waters, and mountains. Yoga and hiking are some of my favourite activities, and amid all that screen time, it’s good balance with that mitochondrial and quantum health as a “free range/pasture raised human”. The path here from a mostly indoor, sedentary lifestyle has not always been easy, but I’m happy to say I’ve finally achieved this life goal of mine.

  • Feel free to contact me if you’d like to work together! I’m always reachable on here and I’ll respond within 1 business day.
