Food is foundational to the creation of thriving life, supporting our potential to reach our highest expression in this lifetime. Food is critical to the childbearing continuum with intergenerational impacts.
Healthy, organic, ethically and regeneratively grown and raised food is a transformative, vital force. This map outlines some of the food deserts in the area and identifies some of the key organizations helping to improve access to greater food security and education for all.

This map shows some of the many organizations around Toronto that are key contributors to the growth and evolution of the healthy food movement through their activism and innovation around sustainable, ethical food policies and food issues. It also shows the areas that could benefit from the spread of food resources and education, called food deserts.
Toronto is recognized internationally as a leader in these food issues and policies. Whether in the context of urban agriculture, food security, public health, community development, or sustainable regenerative farming, it is clear that food is a pressing issue. Capacity building, knowledge exchange and working collaboratively across disciplines are crucial elements towards successful advocacy and action on food policy.

ACCESSIBILITY: Reachable physical and economic access for all.
ADEQUACY: Safe and environmentally sustainable.
ACCEPTABILITY: Food is produced and obtained in ethical ways.
AGENCY: Security is achieved through successful policies, initiatives and processes.
